Ford Motor Co. is recalling 1.18 sport utility vehicles and vans to fix an engine sensor that could lead to the engine stalling. To date there have been 14 accidents reported that are associated with the problem.
Model recalled are from 1997-2003 with 7.3 liter diesel engines and include: Ford E-Series van, Excursion full sized sport utility vehicle, and the F-450 Super Duty and F-550 Super Duty trucks.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the vehicle’s camshaft position senor, which is located on the engine and is an electrical component that regulates fuel entering the engine, could function intermittently and cause an engine to stall and potentially crash.
